The book the Outsiders is similar to the song Praying. The life lesson is that bullying can make others feel worthless and want to show they are just as good as you through possibly risky means. To support this I’ve got a some similarities and differences on both pieces. Here’s the comparison in four paragraphs count the one I’m on.
The similarities are that both have bullying as a common theme. Both are narrated through the eyes of the main character. Both stories have a “I’m just as good as you” situation. Both do have some type of relationship( Greasers and Socs, bully vs victim, Praying, an abusive relationship.) Lastly both are around modern day.
With a few similarities there some differences. First the stories are told through different people, a 14 year old boy and a young woman. Second One of the bullies is group of rich kids called the Socs and the Other is an abusive boyfriend. The “I’m just as good as part is by 2 different groups, The Socs and Greasers and The abusive boyfriend and the young woman. The last difference is the way the stories are told one is told as memory and other is told at a more current time after the breakup.
In conclusion the lesson is that bullying is bad thing as it can make people feel worthless or make them want to show that they are just as good as you via possibly risky means. The pieces have some similarities and some differences. Mainly in the fact is that bullying is a common theme. The abusive boyfriend and the other from a bunch of rich kids. One off script difference is the narrators are different teen vs young adult.
